Certainly! You’ve pretty much got the different types of malware – viruses, trojans, worms, and ransomware:

    Viruses:

    • A virus is a piece of code that attaches itself to legitimate programs or files. When the infected program or file runs, the virus activates and spreads to other files or systems. Viruses can cause data corruption, system crashes, and unauthorized access.
    • They often spread through infected email attachments, malicious websites, or infected software.

    Trojans:

    • Trojans are programs that appear harmless but contain malicious code. Unlike viruses, they don’t usually self-replicate.
    • Common types of trojans include:
      • Backdoor Trojans: Create unauthorized access points for attackers.
      • Downloader Trojans: Download additional malware onto the victim’s system.
      • Banking Trojans: Steal sensitive financial information.
      • RATs (Remote Access Trojans): Allow remote control of the infected system.

    Worms:

    • Worms are self-replicating programs that spread across networks without user intervention.
    • They exploit vulnerabilities in operating systems or software to propagate.
    • Unlike viruses, worms don’t need a host file to spread.

    Ransomware:

    • Ransomware encrypts files on the victim’s system and demands a ransom (usually in cryptocurrency) for decryption.
    • It can infect computers through malicious email attachments, compromised websites, or vulnerable software.
    • WannaCry, which caused widespread damage in 2017 is an example of ransomware.
